napa
napa....napa, napa, napa. if there is one thing i do like about california it's got to be the roads. i entered napa in the late afternoon of a monday. i was to meet up with a woman by the name of lisa who was trying to book a gig for me in the area. due to my typical late, unannounced arrival the meeting was postponed until the next day. so i spent the night in a cute little motel room crammed full of furniture so that anywhere you walked there was only two feet of space to navigate. still, it had a kitchenette, and as we all know, kitchens make the best place to be creative. so after going to see a movie and chatting with the local homeless, i settled in to writing. it felt good to have the solitude to be creative. and showers are always nice as well. the next day i met up with lisa and hung out and talked for a couple of hours about music and what it does. music as business. music as inspiration. which raised an interesting point to me. for some people music is inspiration, but for song writers, (or me at least), i think that music is the outcome of inspiration. how's that for being vague. well i know what i mean. so i left napa and headed off to portland.
